To safeguard the independence of the Auditor General, he is appointed by the Parliament, his removal is based on predetermined conditions and budget is provided by the Parliament. His independence should be guaranteed through financial independence, i.e. by providing resources required to conduct his audit functions without any political influences. If adequate resources are not provided by the Parliament, the Auditor General will not be able to independently undertake the Audits expected by the Parliament and the public.
